Mr. David DeMay is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with more than twenty years of experience in the comprehensive practice of in industrial hygiene. He also serves as an adjunct instructor in the Occupational Safety and Health Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage and is an authorized OSHA Outreach trainer in both Construction and General Industry. Mr. DeMay received much of his training and experience as a Bioenvironmental Engineer in the US Air Force conducting comprehensive industrial hygiene and environmental assessments in a broad range of industrial workplaces.
Mr. DeMay conducts a wide range of industrial hygiene and safety surveys that include road and aircraft maintenance facilities, medical facilities, vehicle maintenance shops, construction activities and mining. He evaluates workplace hazards such as noise, airborne chemical hazards, skin and eye hazards, radiation, biological hazards and ergonomics. He conducts investigations and sampling to evaluate mold and indoor air quality concerns. His experience includes preparing investigation strategies, writing specifications, bid evaluations, and project planning.
Mr. DeMay works with building owners and managers to resolve employee health issues by identifying hazards and their underlying source. He recommends appropriate measures to reduce hazards such as process changes, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment. He manages industrial hygiene projects requiring interaction between owners, governmental entities, workers, and citizens.
Mr. DeMay brings professional skills in the areas of sampling and technical data analysis, current laboratory techniques, noise dosimetry, sound pressure analysis, industrial ventilation, health and safety training, and ergonomic work station assessment. He understands the investigative process, techniques, and the science behind good industrial hygiene procedures, training, and reporting. He interprets new OSHA regulations and creates compliance plans.
