Mr. Harper joined EHS-Alaska in May 2009 and brought his experience in engineering design and construction management. As a Design Engineer with EHS-Alaska, Mr. Harper conducts hazardous materials surveys and develops hazardous building materials abatement design contract documents.
Mr. Harper works throughout Alaska in urban, rural, remote, and military installations. He is experienced in working in remote project areas in arctic environment. His clients include Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, Anchorage School District, City of Barrow, City of Valdez, Mat-Su Borough, Municipality of Anchorage, and architectural and engineering firms.
For military projects, Mr. Harper attends Charrette meetings and prepares Attendance Responses to comments for each design submittal. He conducts hazardous materials surveys and provides a report that summarizes the results of the survey, testing and sampling. He produces conceptual design narratives, concept design drawings, and cost estimating support.
In preparation for the demolition of buildings, Mr. Harper prepares Work and Safety plans and conducts hazardous materials surveys. For renovation projects, Mr. Harper reviews existing facility assessments and facility as-built drawings prior to developing hazmat survey plans. He conducts hazardous materials surveys by sampling suspect materials and noting chemical hazards. Representative indoor and outdoor painted surfaces are screened for lead using a NITON XRF lead paint analyzer. Mr. Harper prepares survey reports and designs for the safe removal and disposal of hazardous materials.
Mr. Harper assists in developing cost estimates for hazardous materials removal. For all design phases, Mr. Harper develops technical specifications, and either hazmat removal design drawings or drawing notes for the architect to use on their drawings. Mr. Harper participates in design reviews and prepares written responses to comments generated by the Owner. Mr. Harper also provides on-site and in-house construction services to clients.
