Bio

Mr. Ottosen joined EHS-Alaska in 2011 as an AutoCAD Draftsman and Field Technician. His previous work experience includes production of electrical drawings for the DOW Chemical Company, and production of manufacturing drawings and assistance in mechanical design for Zimmermann & Jansen, Inc., both based in Texas.  Additional work experience includes 2 years in the general construction industry and 3 years as an Automotive Technician.

Mr. Ottosen’s extensive background in creating and interpreting complicated design drawings meant that he quickly developed the ability to review a buildings renovation history to develop sound surveying strategies for hazardous materials.

At EHS-Alaska, Mr. Ottosen conducts hazardous material surveys and prepares inspection reports.  He also provides design development and specifications, cost estimates for hazmat removal, construction and bid documents, construction administration, and close-out services.  He participates in pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.   He performs lead inspections as a NITON XRF Operator, allowing him to go on-site and assess buildings for lead-based paint with immediate results.

As project manager at EHS-Alaska, Mr. Ottosen has performed surveys throughout the State of Alaska.  He has conducted surveys of commercial facilities for boiler replacement, HVAC upgrades, and demolition surveys.  Chris works on many of the projects under our Term Contract with the Anchorage School District.  Recent ASD projects include Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Upgrades, Restroom Renovations, Window and Door Replacement, Re-roof and Roof Replacement, Intercom Upgrades, Lighting Upgrades, Elementary School Renewal Design, and Elementary School Renovation & Addition.

Mr. Ottosen has conducted surveys and inspections for school districts around the state of Alaska including AHERA Reinspections on eight schools for the Mat-Su Borough School District, Tununak K-12 School Major Maintenance for the Lower Kuskokwim School District, renovation of the vocational education wing of the school in Naknek for the Bristol Bay Borough School District, and the gym addition of the Newhalen school for Lake and Peninsula School District.
